National Weather Center, Norman, OK

The National Weather Center is located at the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus (120 David L. Boren Blvd., Norman, OK 73072-7303) and 17 miles from the Will Rogers World Airport. The National Weather Center unique building provides a one-of-kind collaborative work environment for the federal, state, and academic units housed. These three areas work together to improve our understanding of Earth's atmosphere, provide accurate and timely forecasts on severe weather, and to educate and train future meteorologists.

Travel Information

Will Rogers World Airport is the closest and most convenient airport both for domestic and international flights. It is 30 minutes away from Norman and there are airport shuttle services that serves to/from the airport.

You have several options for reaching the hotel where you are staying.

Rent a Car

First if you choose to rent a car, here below are driving instructions. Directions from Will Rogers World Airport to Embassy Suites Norman are given as an example:

From Terminal Drive and SW 54th St, proceed onto 1-44 West/I-240 East/OK-3 East
Follow I-240 East/OK-3 East for 3 miles to I-35 South
In 13 miles, take exit 113 onto US-77 South/N Flood Ave
In 3 miles, arrive at Embassy Suites Norman on your left

Shuttle Service

A second option is Airport Express Shuttle Service. Note that you don't need to reserve a ride from the Will Rogers World Airport to the hotel. The shuttles can be reached by exiting the airport through the doors opposite Baggage Claim 4 and 5 on the lower level. Walk across the roadway immediately outside the exit door to the second set of canopies, where you will find the shuttles right behind the taxis. The shuttles are blue with yellow lettering. They are available on a first-come first-served basis and they accept cash, credit or debit as payment. They will take you to your hotel.

However, for your return ride, you will need to reserve your ride. Please do this ahead of time either by calling them from (405) 681-3311 or downloading their App. If you make the reservation online they will request payment.

Uber/Taxi Service

Uber is also an option. The pickup would be just outside the airport on the lower level. There is a drive just outside the exits opposite the baggage claim area.
